The University of Michigan Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology is excited to welcome Rory Walsh as the newest member of the EEB administrative team. Rory is stepping into the role of Master’s Graduate Coordinator and DEI Liaison, where she will be responsible for supporting our Master’s students and leading DEI efforts for the department.
Rory brings a dynamic enthusiasm to graduate education and diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and is experienced in student services. Most recently Rory was a Research Fellow with the Nam Center for Korean Studies where she managed the undergraduate fellowship program and helped with department administration. Rory has a PhD and MA in anthropology with a focus on East Asian archaeology from the University of Oregon, and a BA in archaeology from Washington University in Saint Louis.
Reflecting on her path toward DEI work, “It was more like a string of tiny lightbulb moments, a series of friends and former students looking for help navigating grad school,” said Rory. “I’m so happy to see how much support EEB gives their Masters' students, and I’m thrilled to be on the team!”
