Great turnout for EEB’s annual spring picnic
EEBers gathered to top off another successful academic year at the annual spring picnic. More than 75 people showed up on the beautiful spring day – it was sunny and in the 60s with a light breeze. The picnic was held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Island Park, Ann Arbor.
Babies and toddlers were the afternoon’s headliners. Frisbees were tossed, bubbles blown, games played and there was ample good food, conversation and laughter.
According to tradition, EEB Professor and Chair Diarmaid Ó Foighil presented the EEB Outstanding Paper of the Year Award. Pascal Title won the 2016 prize for his first-authored paper in Systematic Biology, "Do Macrophylogenies Yield Stable Macroevolutionary Inferences? An Example from Squamate Reptiles." See previous EEB web news article for further details. A listing of student awards and new baby photos were on display at the picnic to share the happiness.
Special thanks to the social committee Laura Eidietis, Susanna Campbell, Mackenzie Caple, Michael Ehnis and Yin-Long Qiu for their efforts organizing the event. Thanks also to Cindy Carl, Gail Kuhnlein, Carol Solomon and Elizabeth Walker for their assistance and to all those who helped with set up and clean up.
Now, the photos will do the talking in this Google web album. Image credits to Dale Austin.
