Students pursuing the undergraduate Minor in Translation Studies have two options to receive credit for the capstone project.

The first option is to design and complete your capstone project as an independent study under COMPLIT 497 (Translation Studies Undergraduate Capstone), in either the Fall or Winter term. We allow registration in the Spring/Summer term only in special circumstances. All students who take COMPLIT 497 must complete a project proposal, progress report, and summary in addition to their project. Review the Capstone Project Checklist for details.

The second option is to register for COMPLIT 494 (Translation Practicum). As a student in this course, you will be introduced to the practice of translation in professional contexts, with the potential to meet practicing translators during class. You will learn about a variety of careers in translation (e.g., legal, medical, business, governmental, publishing/new media) and/or practice specific translation skills (e.g. film captioning, technical translation, computer-assisted translation tools, translation for the stage, and translation for specific venues such as Words Without Borders).
