We know the transition to a new school, while exciting, can also be confusing as you navigate new technology, new policies, and a new environment. As your Newnan advisors, we want to do everything we can to smooth this process and help you feel more prepared. To that end, we've developed specific pre-health and pre-law sessions as well as Academic Peer Leader drop-in sessions to answer common questions. These sessions are entirely optional, so if you want the additional support, please join us!

Transfer Student Pre-Orientation Information Sessions

If you are looking for guidance and support before attending your Virtual Orientation Academic Advising Appointment, we encourage you to attend one of our pre-orientation information sessions. Our webinars are designed to help you smoothly transition into UM. You'll gain insights into:

  • The LSA degree requirements
  • How transfer credits apply to your UM degree
  • Navigating the LSA Course Guide
  • Using Wolverine Access to "backpack" classes
  • Required placement exams that must be taken before orientation
  • General questions about transferring to UM

Remember, if you decide to attend U-M, you must register for a mandatory orientation session through the Office of New Student Programs (ONSP) as attending this webinar does not count as your orientation.

About a week after you pay your enrollment deposit, you will receive an email from ONSP with directions and dates for registering for an orientation session, so check your UMICH email for that information. No registration is needed for these optional virtual webinars. Simply choose a session that suits your schedule and click the link below to join.

Please use this link to join a Transfer Student Pre-Orientation Webinar. All sessions are in Eastern Time.

You must attend your Virtual Academic Advising Date to schedule your classes.

No advanced registration is required. The webinar content for each session is the same, but the sessions are offered at various times to suit your schedule best.

As you embark on your journey toward a healthcare career, this Pre-Health Information Session is designed to provide you with the foundational tools and resources to help you start your time at the University of Michigan.

At the end of this session, you will be able to define how pre-health advising is utilized at the LSA Newnan Academic Advising Center, familiarize yourself with course recommendations, navigate our pre-health website, and apply resources to your pre-health journey.
