About
Kate is a doctoral student in Sociology and a predoctoral trainee in social demography at the Population Studies Center within the Institute for Social Research. Her research interests broadly include social determinants of health, contextual influences on health outcomes, and social movements, with a particular focus on reproductive health and justice.
Prior to joining the department, Kate was a research assistant at the Guttmacher Institute, where she studied access to reproductive health services, healthcare infrastructure, and contextual influences on abortion stigma. Kate’s interest in health disparities in the United States is grounded in her direct care experiences as both a pregnancy options counselor and abortion doula. She holds a B.A. in Politics from Mount Holyoke College.
