About
Álvaro is a first-year Ph.D. student. His research interests lie between economic and political sociology, including labor and political economy. Álvaro's current project examines social class importance in political participation outside voting and strikes. At the University of Michigan, he plans to research how capitalism interplays with politics with a focus on Latin America. Methodologically, he pays particular attention to historical-comparative and quantitative methods.
Outside academia, Álvaro enjoys working out at the gym and playing and watching football (soccer), with a keen eye on the club he supports, Universidad de Chile. He also enjoys going and discovering new bars and coffee shops, so he is almost always available to try.
