About
Alexus's research interests lie in examining social determinants of health and reproductive justice as it relates to the intersections of women of color’s complex identities in the United States. In graduate school, she wants to also explore a complementary research interest of how Black and Indigenous women have built social movements for reproductive justice in response to unjust social policies (historical and current) that influence maternal and infant mortality in their communities. While she enjoys conducting research using qualitative methods, she does have an interest in becoming a mixed-methods scholar. Alexus was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, checking out new films, and nurturing her green thumb & love of plants. Before coming to graduate school, Alexus worked as a research assistant with the American Institutes for Research.
