About
What do you do as a Finance & Corporate Strategy Senior Analyst?
I work with the executives in my company and help them tackle problems to help us grow further.
Why did you choose to major in Psychology and how has that affected your career thus far?
I took Psych 111 with Professor Shelly Schreier during my first semester of sophomore year and completely fell in love it. This drove me to take up Psychology as a second degree outside of Ross.
I think Psychology has a huge impact on my everyday life, especially my career. It has helped me better understand human interactions, motives, emotions, and etc. It has helped me to shape the way I deliver my thinking and recommendation, because I always put the others’ emotions and motives before me to make sure they feel good about the way I give my recommendation.
What was your career path like?
I worked in management consulting for 3 years and I have transitioned out to a corporate strategy role at a startup.
What advice do you have both professionally and personally for students and recent alumni who are interested in pursuing a career similar to yours?
Do your homework before you reach out and prepare a good list of questions you want answers to.
How has the University of Michigan alumni network helped you thus far in your career?
Our alumni network is simply amazing. When I was job hunting for my current role, I reached out to many alumni who are in the startup world to understand what their work experiences are like and what kind of work they do. It was helpful because it helped me solidify my interest. If you happen to want to work in a company that has some Michigan alumni, don’t hesitate to reach out to them on LinkedIn, I am sure they will be happy to talk to you about their experiences.
What is the best career advice that you have received?
If you know what you’re interested in and what you want to do, just do it. Don’t think about failure or risks.
What has contributed most to your career success?
Taking time to get to know your coworkers, working hard, don’t stop learning, and find ways to create value.
