Extensive facilities are available for use by students and faculty in the developmental area including well-equipped observation laboratories, one-way viewing facilities, research rooms, and extensive computer facilities. Children are available for research in schools and early childhood centers in Ann Arbor and neighboring communities. Institutions for cognitively- limited, disturbed, and delinquent children and adolescents within short driving distances from Ann Arbor have been receptive to research studies. Additional facilities are available at other related centers on campus. These include:
- Institute for Social Research, through its Survey Research Center and Center for Group Dynamics
- Michigan Prevention Research Training Program
- Two laboratory schools: the Children's Center and the U-M Towsley Children's House
Students are also able to participate in a number of inter-area and interdepartmental certificate programs such as Women's Studies.
