Lillian Nguyen (she/they) is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a member of Dr. Gigi Awad's Research on Anti-Racism and Gender Equity (RAGE) Lab. Lillian currently examines minority status stress and is deeply committed to centering the experiences of young adults with multiple marginalized identities (e.g., Queer and Trans Black, Indigenous, People of Color). They also collaborate extensively with other researchers on topics including Asian American stereotypes and inter/intragroup experiences of colorism. She is most interested in how to leverage identity and belonging (e.g., centrality, affirmation, empowerment) to positively impact education and health outcomes. Lillian is also studying how awareness of intersectionality may inform a person's understanding of their experiences of discrimination and how they choose to cope or respond. More recently, they are exploring how we can develop and implement identity-affirming practices to empower QTBIPOC and improve psychological wellbeing.
