About
Faculty Advisors: Susan Gelman & Abigail Stewart
C. McGhee (they/them) is an interdisciplinary researcher, trained in both psychology and gender studies. They study queer embodiment and well-being, specifically the needs and experiences of trans/gender diverse people. They are invested in using research to amplify the voices of trans/gender diverse folk, demonstrate the positive and pleasurable aspects of our lives, and support our flourishing as a community. C. operates from a critical-ideological research paradigm, where power relations are understood to mediate individual lived experience and where research can be a means of disrupting the status quo. Their work draws on transfeminist theory, feminist theory, queer theory, critical theory, and intersectionality theory. They particularly enjoy using qualitative methods (interviews, focus groups, etc.) and conducting community-based research.
