Dianna Alvarado

My research focuses on psychological processes and contextual factors that promote college students’ health and academic outcomes, with a special interest in Latinx/e students. I examine protective strategies (e.g., self-compassion) that buffer impostor feelings, as well as promotive factors (e.g., familism, building self-efficacy) that support students from marginalized backgrounds. Employing quantitative and qualitative approaches, my work highlights how academic contexts and mentoring environments shape students’ well-being and educational trajectories with implications for student support and equity-focused educational practices.
