Oscar Ybarra is Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan, and Faculty Associate at the Research Center for Group Dynamics (ISR). Although still part of the University of Michigan, Dr. Ybarra will continue the next phase of his career as Professor of Business Administration at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois. Dr. Ybarra studies the social underpinnings of cognition and the need to balance personally valued goals with connecting socially. His research has been published in the top journals in the field, and his work on social judgment has been used in presentations before U.S. congressional hearings. His findings on mental exercising through socializing, socializing and intelligence, and Facebook use and wellbeing have received national and international media attention, including the BBC, NY Times, Forbes, and National Geographic.
