Since the early 1980’s, my research has integrated the multiple perspectives of animal models, basic experimental, translational, and patient-oriented clinical research. Currently, this research takes on three themes.

1. Improving patient reported outcomes for chronic illnesses.
2. Designing and conducting pharmacological and non-pharmacological clinical intervention trials targeting chronic illnesses.
3. Determining the neurophysiologic mechanisms involved in the development and maintenance of chronic pain conditions.
