Career Path:
Growing up, I always wanted to be a lawyer, and friends and family frequently agreed that I was destined to become one. Maybe it was my love of legal TV dramas and arguing that had everyone convinced. As I worked through my Bachelor's degree, I began having doubts about my "destined" path, but wasn't sure how my interests fit in with other potential career options. Instead of asking the right questions to help me figure it out, I took what I thought was the "easy" route, and moved forward with law school (pro tip - don't go to grad school just because you don't know what else to do!).
After my first year of law school, I really knew it wasn't for me, and had to finally face that big question - "What else can I do?" So, I spent that summer after my first year working part-time at a legal internship, and part-time as the receptionist at the Psychology Student Academic Affairs Office at UM. My job in Psychology was truly fulfilling - something I hadn't felt before in my legal internship. I realized for the first time that my true passion was in helping students. I decided to complete law school, while adding a Master's in Higher Education to my course load. I finished both programs, passed the Michigan Bar exam, and entered the workforce in 2015. I began my career at UM as an advisor/program coordinator at the Frankel Institute for Judaic Studies, where I worked for one year, before joining the Psychology team as an advisor & the Honors/AMDP coordinator. In April 2021, I transitioned into the role of Undergraduate Program Manager. I still love advising undergraduate students, and encourage you to email me if you're seeking assistance!
Favorite Part of Working at UM:
UM is an amazing community, full of knowledgeable people who are always willing to share what they know and guide others. I love the work-life balance, as well as the amount of appreciation that is shown to employees. Psychology regularly offers staff opportunities to get out of our offices and interact with colleagues in fun ways - for example, one summer, we went to a challenge course, as well as on a private tour of the Big House!
