According to the Office of the Provost, Dr. Ram Mahalingam has been “selected as a recipient of the 2022 Harold R. Johnson Diversity Service Award...[which] recognizes University of Michigan faculty members on the Ann Arbor campus who have exhibited outstanding leadership in the area of cultural diversity.” Dr. Mahaligam "is one of few psychologists to study issues of diversity and identities in the cultural norms and hierarchies of India and the United States. In both countries, he examines issues of power and discrimination at various intersections of caste, gender, class, ethnicity and sexuality" as illuminated by The University Record.
