The short film "Silences" was a collaboration of Dr. Ram Mahalingam with Profs. Swarnavel Eswaran and Koji Matsunobu and Khin Yee Lo and was selected for the New Delhi International Short Film Festival. The film is based on a short story Ram wrote about silences in our lives. He cowrote the screenplay and coproduced the film with Swarnavel and Koji. The film was screened on October 28 in Delhi and won the Special Jury Prize where over 60 international films were screened. Prof. John Kuwada from APIA studies played the main protagonist along with Hitomi Katsumi (CRLT). The film has also been selected as an Official Entry in the Genre Celebration Film Festival, Tokyo, 2018.
