Strategic Initiatives Manager, International Institute
About
Elise Huerta is the strategic initiatives manager at the International Institute. She is responsible for building capacity and providing strategic leadership for the institute, particularly in the area of grant management and fundraising.
Before coming to the II, Elise developed and taught courses in Chinese studies at Stanford University, the University of Michigan, and the East Asia Resource Center at the University of Washington. She also served as editor of education about Asia, the peer-reviewed teaching journal published by the Association for Asian Studies.
Elise holds a PhD in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Stanford and a BA in Chinese from the University of Michigan. Her academic work explores the cultural politics of touch in modern Chinese literature and film.
