Majors at the II offer students a broad background in the study of a specific world region or global theme by drawing from courses in fields such as anthropology, economics, history, language, literature, political science, psychology, and sociology. Students completing a major will acquire in-depth knowledge of the region or global theme they study as well as area language competency. Majors include:

- Middle Eastern & North African Studies
- Latin American & Caribbean Studies
- Russian, East European, & Eurasian Studies
Minors require coursework related a world region or global theme. Those denoted with * require language competency. Minors include:
