Hana Mattar

Hana Mattar is the Academic Program Specialist for the Global Islamic Studies Center (GISC) at the University of Michigan’s International Institute. In her role, Hana organizes and coordinates GISC events and conferences, marketing and communications, and supports students associated with GISC and their related lectures and workshops.

Prior to joining the International Institute, Hana worked at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU), a nonprofit research institute dedicated to providing unbiased research on American Muslims. At ISPU, she worked in event planning, development, and marketing. Most recently, Hana worked at the University of Michigan’s Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) where she coordinated student-centric programming, planned experiential trips for students, and worked on restructuring programs to be more diverse and inclusive.

Hana is a native of Cairo, Egypt and grew up moving around between Egypt, Italy, Switzerland and the United States. In addition to English, she is fluent in Arabic and Italian. Hana is passionate about Detroit, social justice, photography and coffee shops.
