PhD Candidate, Environment and Sustainability
About
Hana is a PhD candidate in Dr. Bilal Butt’s Critical Environmental Geopolitics Research Group and a Graduate Student Associate at UMich's Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREES). Using a case study of demining in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), she employs ethnographic and participatory methods to explore the transformative sociopolitical and environmental challenges of post-war landscapes, guided by theories of new materialism and critical geopolitics. Her work connects the fields of political ecology, international relations, and science and technology studies through questions of meaning, power, and temporality.
