In collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico, the Department of Education of Puerto Rico, and the Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research (CEDER) at the University of Michigan, the International Institute organizes a multi-day teacher institute in Puerto Rico.

Educators from both the mainland United States and Puerto Rico participate in discussions and hands-on learning activities focused on culturally sustaining, inquiry-based, and inclusive approaches to globalizing education.

Participants engage in:

  • Community dialogues to explore local and global perspectives
  • Expert presentations on international education and pedagogy
  • Small working groups to develop classroom-ready content based on an annual theme

By the end of the program, educators leave with practical strategies and globally focused lesson plans to implement in their classrooms.
