During the summer, PhD student Eimeel Castillo (Women's Studies and History) participated in the panel "History and Gender," presenting a paper at the 14th Central American Congress of History held in Guatemala City. She presented part of her research project examining gender relations during the U.S. occupation of Nicaragua in the early twentieth century, which she started developing at U of M. This biannual congress is the largest academic event for historians of Central America both in the region and around the world, and was held from August 6-10, 2018.
