Major kudos are in order for Charlotte Karem Albrecht! Dr. Albrecht's book, Possible Histories: Arab Americans and the Queer Ecology of Peddling, has received an Honorable Mention in the 2024 Arab American Book Awards for non-fiction.
Dr. Albrecht, Associate Professor of American Culture and Women's and Gender Studies, was also named Distinguished Lecturer for the Organization of American Historians. Distinguished Lectureship speakers for the Organization of American Historians promote exceptional understanding and encourage appreciation of "all aspects of American history from the 1600s through the present." Her lectures include, "The Work of Syrian American Women," "Sexuality and Gender in Arab American History," and "More than the Census: Arab Americans and How Race is Made."
What's more, at the University of Michigan, Dr. Albrecht has been elected to the University Senate Assembly. She has been chosen to "represent the interests and concerns of faculty throughout the University of Michigan system."
