Mimi Thi Nguyen is an Associate Professor Gender and Women’s Studies and Asian American Studies and the UIUC. Her first monograph The Gift of Freedom: War, Debt, and Other Refugee Passages (Duke 2012) won the 2014 Outstanding Book Award from the Association for Asian American Studies.
