Life Sciences Peer Facilitator
About
Savannah is a Senior from East Lansing, She is aware it's Spartan country, but she grew up a Michigan fan, always excited to attend football games at the Big House with her dad! Savannah is majoring in Evolutionary Anthropology, and plans to attend medical school starting in the year 2021, after I take a gap year. After medical school she would like to complete an OBGYN residency with the hope of then finished with a fertility fellowship. She is looking forward to a career in helping people build their families!
Savannah joined UROP as a freshman and immediately fell in love with the lab that she joined. The lab focused on spermatogenesis and the male germ line, which really helped to push her toward a focus in fertility. She continued in the lab for 2 years and completed the UROP Biomedical and Life Sciences Fellowship the summer after her freshman year. One of the best parts about her lab were the people. "I learned so much from my mentor and the graduate students in the lab. The people and your passion for your project are really what can make or break a UROP experience."
In the summertime, she likes to spend her time outside and constantly fine myself reading books. I LOVE to spend time with her family, friends, and most importantly her DOGS! Her family also has a little piece of land out in West Virginia and one of her favorite things to do when we're there is to go white water rafting on the New River! While at school, she loves going to basketball games and is a part of the Maize Rage Club. Additionally, she devotes hours to volunteering with Blood Drives United and at the University Hospital. "Overall, I am very excited to meet my students, and look forward to helping to make your UROP experience as awesome and enlightening as mine was!! Go Blue!!!"
