Jacob Blanksvard

Jacob is a senior planning to graduate Winter 2020. He is a chemical engineering major. His passion for chemistry started in high school. Jacob is planning to apply the degree to industry right after graduation. Jacob is especially interested in the pharmaceutical industry. He also has an interest in Classic Civilization classes. Jacob has taken a good amount of these and if you have questions about classes in that subject (especially as humanities requirements for engineers) he is a great resource. Jacob grew up in Iron Mountain, Michigan before moving to South Haven, Michigan where his family lives now. This self-proclaimed "huge nerd" loves card games, video games, and all kinds of other nerdy stuff, such as sitting down and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends. As of lately, Jacob has been enjoying Magic: The Gathering a lot!

Jacob is a member of the M-STEM community and his time with them has helped shape his entire undergraduate experience. Jacob's favorite part about UROP is how it provides awesome opportunities to undergraduate students. "Without UROP many students wouldn't be able to have such easy access to research opportunities. I hope that UROP helps each student better understand their desires about research and hopefully a passion for it!"
