Life Sciences Peer Facilitator
About
Eric is entering his senior year, and is excited to be continuing with the UROP team as a returning Life Sciences Peer Facilitator. His research journey began as a UROP student, and the program opened his eyes to the field. Since then, he has progressed substantially through full-time research opportunities with the Mcubed Scholars Program and Biomedical & Life Sciences Summer Fellowship. During the past two years, he has been in the lab of Dr. Jun Hee Lee in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology. Their research focus has been on the relationship between stress, aging, and age-related metabolic diseases.
Complementing Eric's research experience is his major in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He plans to graduate in Winter 2020 while also pursuing a minor in music.
Throughout Eric's life, the piano has been a vessel for creative expression, and a means to connect with others. Volunteering with the organization, Seven Mile, he has provided piano lessons to the youth of Detroit. "I am excited to pursue a more significant role as one of our education directors for the music curriculum. After graduation, I intend on attending medical school and further developing as a member of the scientific community. As a physician, I will combine my passion for science with service and potentially pursue research of my own."
When not in the library or the lab, you can find Eric in front of a piano or working out at the IM. When the weather is nice, He enjoys jogging in the arb and taking in the sights and sounds of nature. He also enjoy discovering new places, going to concerts, and spending time with friends.
