Health Sciences Peer Facilitator
About
Bailey grew up in Canton, Michigan and is a senior in the School of Public Health with hopes to pursue a future medical degree. Bailey joined the UROP program during her sophomore year and began working as a research assistant for Dr. Bo Yang of the U-M Department of Cardiac Surgery. The research focus was primarily on determining the optimal surgical techniques to treat complex cardiac diseases. Bailey has continued this research throughout her undergraduate program – "it has not only advanced my understanding of aortic disease but also has helped me become a more confident researcher, especially when conducting presentations; I had the wonderful opportunity to present my research at the Undergraduate Stanford Research Conference, and by far this has been one of my most memorable college experiences as I met so many driven and compassionate peers and mentors." Through the UROP Research Scholars program, Bailey collaborated with the new U-M Natural History Museum to create an exhibit of her research! "I am forever grateful to UROP for giving me the opportunity to find my passion in research, and now as a peer facilitator, I hope to help new UROP students find their passion and develop themselves as individuals."
Outside of her research lab, Bailey is the Hospital Director for the organization Opportunities to Educate Children (OEC) where they place U-M tutors in various pediatric units in Mott Children’s Hospital. Bailey is also a part of the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) and loves to dance in their annual show! Bailey also loves to spend as much free time as possible outdoors particularly on the Diag, in the Arb and kayaking on the Huron River.
"I have loved my experience at Michigan and am looking forward to making many more lasting memories. Forever and always, Go Blue!"
