Health Sciences Peer Facilitator
About
Anne is a senior from Plymouth, Michigan, majoring in Public Health Sciences with a minor in Environment. Anne hopes to attend medical school, but will be taking some time after graduation to work.
Anne works as a research assistant in the Section of Plastic Surgery at Mott’s Hospital where the research is primarily focused on surgical experiences and outcomes for patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other craniofacial anomalies. She is also a research assistant for the Michigan Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network where they are developing a preventative approach to reduce the opioid epidemic in the state of Michigan by engaging with patients, educating providers, and advising community leaders.
This past summer Anne spent time working as an intern for the Global Health Design Initiative which is in the College of Engineering working on a design project in the Accident and Emergency Department at a hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. "This job was a great opportunity for me to learn more about research, multidisciplinary design, and global health. I really loved spending time there and learning about Ghanaian culture. I hope my future career will involve global health."
Anne's favorite place is Grand Teton National Park where she went on some of her first hiking, camping, and climbing trips. When she can’t get out of town, she spends hrer free time running, swimming, and going to the climbing gym.
