Where did you transfer from? Schoolcraft College
Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? Because of the amazing academic programs that LSA and U of M provides. My reason for transferring is because I wish to continue my education and hope to become well studied in the field I wish to go into. I absolutely love challenges and I love learning. Every day it is a goal for me to learn something new, whether it be small or big. Learning is amazing. I hope to achieve the best knowledge out there at the best University in Michigan. I want to be on top of my game and feel challenged with the knowledge that I have.
Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? Just go for it. You never know what may happen. If you don’t get in, you can always try again next year. I never thought in a million years I would actually be able to submit my application to U of M. It took me 20 minutes contemplating, because failure is really scary. But at least for me, I held my head and clicked submit and a few weeks later I received my acceptance letter. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Just a little bit of courage and confidence can give you a boost to do many things.
How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? I made friends with people on my dorm floor and through clubs. When you find people you have a common interest or background with, it is easy to connect and make friends.
What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? The incredible social opportunities it provides me, and all the amazing majors I was able to choose from. LSA has everything I want to do: art and science. These two passions of mine are what make me unique to the crowd. I have a creative perspective in the most scientific way possible. LSA is able to provide me with the classes I want to take and the degree that I want, that I didn't know existed until I was told about it. When I first heard about LSA and what it has to offer, I quickly got myself involved in a Transfer Bridges, a program that could allow me to go to this college. I want to be able to explore my passions without having to worry about accidentally not following my degree requirement. It will help me in the future because I can show all the colors of my skills and personalities to future jobs because LSA is not just one thing. I don't have just one talent, I have many. When I first clicked on the web page for LSA it said on the home page, "The possibilities and opportunities are endless." I absolutely believe that. With the degree it has so many beneficial things not only for my future but honestly for my sanity. I can take the classes I want and not worry about anything being mixed up or confusing. That's why I love LSA, for the classes, structure, and opportunity it can provide.
Why did you choose your specific major(s)? Because it has always been my passion to learn about the world and the human mind. There is so much to be discovered that I want to be a part of. I love the Earth and it is dying. I want to research opportunities to help the death of the Earth slow down. I am also incredibly interested in Psychology. Do you know that feeling of happiness you have when you are in nature? It’s serotonin secreted from the brain. I want to show people how preserving nature and taking care of it can help not only the plants and animals, but ourselves as well. I want to make a real change in the world. A dream of mine is to be in a science book. It's small but meaningful to me.
