About

Working at a large Univerity like U of M is vastly different than working in the Real World. In the corporate environment projects are in general customized to the client and the culture.

For example GM, Chrysler, Ford, Nissan,etc.. all build cars but how they approach the end result of their products is determined by the history and traditions of their founders as well as their clients(you and me).  It would be common to be working on designs that in the end performed the same basic functions but had GUI's that represented the heart and soul of the owner or corporation.

I recall one situation with the former CEO of FOMOCO(Ford) Jack Nassar changed the company logo from the traditional blue oval to a script "Ford Motor Company". Long story shortened, that was the end of Jack Nassar.

Comparing this to the "U" 95% of the designs are generic, done that way to provide continuity for staff that teach in multiple rooms. The only traditional flavor that you would see is on the logo page, typical of LSA College portion of the "Block M".  I think if a green "S" got in there I would suffer Mr. Nassar's fate.   At least 30 years working in the corporate world taught me something.
