Sophia Tonnessen

Sophia Anfinn Tonnessen is a poet and scholar interested in the relationship between text and gender, as well as science fiction and the ideology of utopia. She graduated from Columbia University in 2019 with a B.A. in Creative Writing and Russian Literature, and has continued to write while pursuing her studies at the University of Michigan. Her first collection of poetry, Ecologia, released in Fall 2021 from Unbound Editions Press, and she recently won second place in Palette Poetry's Sappho Prize contest, open to women poets nationwide. When she isn't writing, teaching, or watching YouTube, she's working as a server at local vegan joint Detroit Street Filling Station (come say hi and grab a queso burrito!).
