Azhar is a PhD candidate in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. She specializes in 20th- and 21st-century Russophone literature, with particular attention to postcolonial cultural production and queer-feminist writing in non-Russian contexts. Her dissertation examines gendered landscapes and queered ecocritical narratives in transnational postcolonial literary and visual texts from Central Asia.
