Brittany Ribeiro Brown

Brittany Ribeiro Brown's overall research agenda is to advance intersectional, community-engaged scholarship that illuminates how multi-level oppression undermines mental health and to generate evidence that informs interventions, practice, and policy to better support Black and LGBTQ populations. Trained in Social Work and Psychology, her interdisciplinary research, teaching, and service are driven by a deep commitment to health equity. Ribeiro Brown's research program follows three interconnected lines of inquiry: (a) gendered racial experiences and their impact on mental health and help-seeking among Black men; (b) intersectional stigma shaping healthcare access for transgender and gender diverse populations; and (c) Black sexual minority experiences of intersectional stigma, including its effects on mental health, help-seeking, access to affirming care, and resilient coping.
