Your central command center—the space between the stimulus and your response—is where you choose how you want to respond to life’s triggers instead of allowing your emotions to choose. Chances are you’ve heard the age-old question, “How is life treating you?” But the real question is, “How are you treating life?”
Between the work situation that sets you off and your reaction to it, too few of us recognize there’s a space where we can choose our response. And we run roughshod over it, flipping our lids or saying and doing things we later regret. But when you start to pay attention to the space (your central command center) and choose your response, you start to feel freer and more in control of your life.
