The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) selected Sheryl Olson to receive the 2023 Individual Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education. According to LSA, "this award recognizes faculty members who are exceptionally dedicated to the educational experiences of undergraduates, and who demonstrate this dedication through achievements and innovations in their own and others’ classrooms or academic programs." Timothy McKay, LSA Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, mentioned that Olson’s former students spoke warmly of her engrossing classes and dedicated support of her students. McKay writes that among other things, students highlighted her “commitment to them as individuals and professionals” and her willingness to go “far above and beyond . . . in responding to their work and mentoring them.
