Rob Sellers was named a recipient of the Distinguished University Professorship by the Board of Regents of the University of Michigan. According to The University Record, the professorship is meant to "recognize senior faculty members with exceptional scholarly or creative achievements, national and international reputations for academic excellence and superior records of teaching, mentoring and service." Sellers received the honor in recognition of his transformative work on racial identity development, his influence as a teacher and mentor, and his service to the university and beyond.

Sellers's new title will be the James S. Jackson Distinguished University Professor of Psychology, and Professor of Education, effective September 1.
