Pat Gurin, professor emerita and former chair of the Department of Psychology, was selected as the recipient of the 2019 James S. Jackson Career Award for Diversity Scholarship. According to The University Record, the award "is given biennially to a senior faculty member who has made significant contributions to understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion while addressing disparities in contemporary society." Gurin will receive the award at 4:00 PM on November 18. The proceedings will begin in East Hall 1324, where she will present her lecture, "Collectivity, Community, and Connections in the Pursuit of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion." A reception will be held immediately afterward.
