Isis Settles was named a recipient of the University Diversity and Social Transformation Professorship by the Board of Regents of the University of Michigan. According to The University Record, this professorship recognizes "exceptional contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion through research, teaching and service." Tabbye Chavous, Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, writes that Settles's work "demonstrates the transformative impact of diversity, equity and inclusion work on our nation and world. [Her] tireless efforts in research, teaching and service contribute significantly to the university’s mission to cultivate an inclusive and intellectual community.” Isis received the honor due to her work in analyzing workplace dynamics based on gender, as well as her research focusing on the difficulties faced by members of underrepresented groups in the workplace.
