Run 3 of the LHC has begun and many exciting results are continuing to become public from Run 2 data. The seminar will cover motivations for Beyond the Standard Model searches of Vector-Like Quarks and top-antitop resonances using novel neural-network boosted jet taggers within the CMS Collaboration. Upgrades to the CMS muon detector system will be discussed, in particular the refurbishing of the Cathode Strip Chambers (CSC) and integration of the newly installed Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) subsystem. The seminar will also discuss topics of community engagement, such as outreach, science advocacy, and DEI.
