Books

The Tanner Philosophy Library's strength lies in its collection in analytic philosophy and its history. In 1965, when the Library first opened, there were a handful of books. By 1973, the collection had grown to 1,200 monographs. Today, the Library has over 6,000 unique titles. The collection is primarily used as a resource for faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students in the department. The Library seeks to maintain a strong collection of anthologies and other state of the art guides to the main branches of the discipline and historical figures.

Annual fund contributions from alumni, alumnae, and other friends makes it possible for the Philosophy Department to maintain the Tanner Library. If you would like to support the Library, gifts can be madeĀ online.
