The College of Literature, Sciences, and the Arts has given Professor Ishani Maitra a 2021 John Dewey Award, which recognizes long-term commitment to undergraduate education.
Dewey Award winners are selected each year by the College Executive Committee from among faculty recommended for promotion from the rank of associate professor to full professor with tenure. Maitra, who joined the University of Michigan in 2012 and was recently promoted to full Professor, was one of nearly 50 LSA faculty members eligible for the award in 2021.
More information about the John Dewey Award, including a list of past winners, is available on the LSA website.
Congratulations, Professor Maitra!
