Scott Hershovitz will join Philosophy with a dry appointment as Professor, effective September 1. Scott was recently promoted to full Professor at University of Michigan’s Law School. Scott graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with an A.B. in political science and philosophy and an M.A. in philosophy. In addition to a J.D. from the Yale Law School, he holds a D.Phil. in law from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. His research seamlessly integrates the disciplines of law and philosophy, drawing on philosophical mainstays such as John Rawls and Ludwig Wittgenstein to address issues such as the nature of authority.
