Health Sciences Scholars Program; Resident Advisor

What is a health issue that you are really passionate about, and why?

I am deeply committed to challenging and addressing systemic disparities in healthcare, particularly those affecting both patients and healthcare providers with disabilities. As someone who lives with a physical disability, I have firsthand experience navigating the complexities of the healthcare system. My personal journey has fueled a strong passion for advocacy, which I further pursue through my involvement in disability health organizations on campus and my academic focus as a disability studies minor.

Through this lens, I’ve come to understand that while every individual’s symptoms and lived experiences are unique, their concerns are too often dismissed or inadequately addressed in clinical care. It is both disheartening and infuriating that some physicians avoid treating patients with disabilities, or how medical trainees with disabilities are pressured to forgo essential accommodations in both medical school and practice. These realities reflect a larger culture of exclusion that must be urgently confronted through further advocacy, inclusive education, and reform in the healthcare system.

Describe a way you implement wellness and taking care of yourself?

My favorite genre of music is pop, especially indie and jazz-pop!! I love listening to any song by Lyn Lapid -- her entire EP "To Love in the 21st Century" AND her new album "Buzzkill" are SooOOo good. I also listen to Sabrina Carpenter, Beabadoobee, Laufey, SKZ, SZA, Jenny Nuo, Lyle Kam, and Fuji Kaze a lot <333.
