Who We Are
The Health Sciences Scholars Program (HSSP) is a Michigan Learning Community that connects students with like-minded peers, faculty, and healthcare professionals to explore important topics and the breadth of careers found in the healthcare field.
Why HSSP-Trx?
- HSSP core courses (ALA 106 & 109), taught by a UM physician, introduce students to a broad range of health and healthcare-related issues, professions & perspectives
- Shadow some of the best health professionals at UM and beyond
- Dedicated pre-health advising that follows you through your UM experience
- Be part of a small, close-knit community at a large university where lifelong connections will be made
Shadowing Health Professionals
As a part of our HSSP courses, students will spend time shadowing healthcare professionals in their workplace twice a semester.
Shadowing experiences have included:
Dentistry, Midwifery, Geriatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychology, Nursing, Surgery, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Social Work, and more!
