Director of Student and Community Development
About
Kyle Walton is HSSP’s Director for Student and Community Development, managing program operations, co-curricular programming, and overseeing the work of HSSP student and professional staff. Kyle also teaches the ALA 206 mentorship course for the program's Peer Mentors.
Kyle is originally from Upper Sandusky, Ohio, but is now a full-blooded wolverine, having been at UM for over a decade. He received his undergraduate degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of Toledo, but through experiences working in student life and housing as a student, he found his passion was working in student affairs.
He has worked in student services professional roles since then and received his M.A. of Higher Education and Student Affairs from Eastern Michigan University. Kyle joined UM staff in 2009 through University Housing and finally joined HSSP in 2013.
In his spare time, Kyle enjoys traveling with his partner, spending time with family and his dogs Cooper and Sprout, and is a hobby woodworker.
