What is a health issue that you are really passionate about, and why?

In the Mishina Lab, I research Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), a group of conditions affecting jaw function that negatively impact quality of life. This research is essential because existing treatment methods for TMD are ineffective and too expensive. These circumstances are not unique to TMD and are the case for countless other health issues. For this reason, I am passionate about clinical research, as it provides the foundation for advanced therapies that will genuinely improve patients' lives. Additionally, because research labs are often underfunded, I am also passionate about securing consistent funding to advance these treatments.

Describe a way you implement wellness and taking care of yourself?

Lifting weights at the gym is my favorite way to relieve stress from the challenging pre-med course load. Outside of lifting, I always love going to Michigan sports games with friends, especially football, basketball, and hockey!
