About
Ryan Glauser received his Bachelor of Arts in History from SUNY College at Buffalo in 2016 and his joint Master of Arts in Global History from Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin in 2018. Afterwards, Ryan taught History and English in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to middle school and high school students for a year before joining the History department.
His current research broadly focuses on how international organizations, European governments, and postcolonial governments interacted with one another to address international, humanitarian crises in the evolving Global Cold War. In particular, Ryan is currently researching how Global South actors conceived of "human development" as a means of connecting United Nations development and human rights initiatives. By examining decision-making processes during international crises, such as the Nigerian Civil War and the Sudanese Civil Wars, "human development" challenged UN humanitarian principles and development programs, as well as proposed an optimistic alternative to an emerging neoliberal vision.
