Doctoral Candidate in History
About
Mano is a PhD candidate in the history department. His dissertation research focuses on the history of science and medicine in the modern Middle East. He is specifically researching sexual medico-scientific writings published in Arabic, Armenian, and Turkish in the Eastern Mediterranean in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
At Harvard University where he completed his masters degree, his thesis work explored mid-nineteenth century American Protestant missionary encounters with Ottoman Armenians in Eastern Anatolia. Mano holds a BA in International Relations with a focus on international business, economics and politics from Boston University.
He is native in Arabic, Armenian, and French, holds advanced proficiency in Turkish, and elementary proficiency in Azerbaijani and Hebrew.
